STAGE #9 | OHIO POWER SERIES

ROYALVIEW XC | August 18

We're still searching for a name for this tasty bit o single track. Lots of names have been bounced around but "the one" has not landed yet. Submit your suggestions and stay tuned, a name usually comes from a good story.

In the meantime, here's a word from the cycling dictionary that is fitting to the course:

A Rouleur: is a type of racing cyclist considered a good all-rounder. In bicycle racing different courses favour different types of riders depending on a range of environmental conditions such as terrain, climate and distance. Flat courses often finish in a bunch sprint, which favours specialist sprinters who can ride fastest over the last few hundred metres of the race. Mountainous courses favour light, skinny riders with a particularly high power output to weight ratio, enabling them to ascend the mountains efficiently. The time trial discipline is mastered by the riders who can produce a sustained high power output, over short to medium distance. The rouleur is a consistent all rounder who can ride well over most types of course.

Opened in June of 2012 the Cleveland Metropark Royalview Mountain Bike trail is Ohio's newest trail system. The designs favours that of a rouleur as the trail design is an all rounder with a focus on those new to the sport with the challenges veteran rider expect from a mountain bike course. This trail system is leading the charge for future projects and has fast become a popular trail for North Eastern Ohio mountain bikers.
