Vulture's Knob World Cup XC | May 14 2016

No we have not turned into a soccer league, however, we are mixing things up and kicking the season off with the infamous World Cup version of Vulture's Knob! You will stay in the upper portion of the trail system for a lap of 3.5 miles and we are doubling the laps for the respective classes. Do not be deceived as many have been in the past, this shorter version does not mean you will have an easier race by any means! But it will be a spectator friendly course that will leave you satisfied when you cross the finish line!!

XC Laps: each lap approx 3.5 miles
Expert Men - 6 laps
Expert Women - 4 laps
Sport - 4 laps
Beginner - 2 laps

After the XC race you can begin your recovery with a FREE (only if you pre-register) burrito from Jojutlas Mexican Grill and prepare for the return of the Woo Town Single Speed Challenge!

Immediately following the World Cup Cross Country race we will be holding a fun filled, action packed, zany single speed short track bonus mountain bike race. (free) This event showcases the simplicity and purity of rock'n the single cog! But can you handle the twist and turns the mighty Vulture's Knob might, will, or for sure throw your way. If you don't have a SS, no worries...we'll tape your shifters and you'll be good to go!

The annual VKnob Woo Town Single Speed Champion will be crowned at the closing ceremony/party and will hold this distinguished award for 1 year, but will be remembered forever. Up for grabs... the annual Big MoFo Trophy, your name laser cut into a piece of stainless and tacked on from year to year. - so you don't want to give it must return the next year to defend your title or lose the Big Mofo revolving Trophy to a new champion.

Following completion of all events the days events will be recognized and presented awards

Vulture's Knob is privately owned and maintained by the 331 crew. VKnob consists of 125 acres along the majestic and mighty Killbuck River in the rolling hills of Wooster Ohio. The trail system about 30 miles southwest of Akron and has hosted a full mountain bike race schedule, including night races, a 24 hour race, and an adventure race, "The Knob" is considered the most technical single track in northeastern Ohio. Small painted signs give indication about what to expect around the next turn, with names like Rock Tunnel, Fern Gully, Oh Sh#!, Friar Bryan's Forest, Ant City ...well, you get the idea. Creative and fun.

Remember...the Vulture helped launch and establish the sport over 15 years ago. However, this has not always been the case; this venue was once a county farmers land fill. The 331 Crew has accepted the environmental challenge no one else dared to consider and turned it into a sustainable venture with mountain bike and running trails, a 6 acre mulch and organic food waste facility, and evergreen tree farm with several thousand trees. We aim to continue our efforts to clean and develop this once useless 125 acres.

The established facility contains parking, permanent restrooms and shower facilities, primitive camping areas, a staging area with pavilion at the start finish line that provides the backbone for a network of challenging single track and technical trails. Over 100 races have been run at the Knob including epic 12 hour and 24 hour races, adventure races along with the popular cross-country race series. The facilities are open 365 days a year for open riding and camping. Thousands of people from all over the country visit Vulture's Knob year round, not just to race, but for the daily open riding, it is the most reviewed trail in Ohio according to mountain bike trail review pages.
